This week on the blog, we’re featuring Nick & Kara’s fall wedding! 10-10-2020. The MOST popular wedding date of the entire year. These two booked their date with us over 2 years in advance – and we’re so glad they did! I couldn’t imagine spending that memorable day with any other couple. Kara, Nick, and their friends and family were such a wonderful group to work with and they kept their spirits high even when the weather put a damper on their outdoor ceremony plans. Thank you so much to Dee Keim Photography for sharing their gallery with us!
How did you meet?
“In March of 2014, Nick was living and working full time in Nashville. Kara was a junior at Central Michigan working on her social work degree. Kara’s roommate, Molly, was interning for a semester in Nashville at the company that Nick worked for, so Kara and her other roommates took a trip down to visit for Spring Break. Luckily, Nick and Molly had become good friends, and Kara and Nick were introduced at a small get together the first night in Nashville. In fact, Nick was so smitten by Kara that he called “dibs” on her to ensure that he was able to get to know her better. They spent time together during Kara’s short Nashville visit and exchanged phone numbers, neither thinking they would see each other again. They kept in touch, visited each other again, and eventually decided to give a relationship a shot despite long distance. Kara spent the next full year finishing up school while Nick continued to work in Nashville. They kept their relationship alive with regular visits, calls, and Facetimes, until finally Kara was able to move to Nashville in May of 2015.“
Tell me about the Proposal!
“In Spring of 2018, Nick had decided to propose to Kara. After months of planning, Nick took Kara to Chicago for Memorial Day weekend. Kara had her suspicions of what was going to happen that weekend, but she had no idea what was truly in store. Nick had booked reservations on the Odyssey, a nighttime dinner cruise off of Navy Pier. After eating, Nick took Kara up to the top of the boat to look at the Chicago skyline. Then, he got down on one knee and proposed, complete with the skyline in view and lots of people cheering. Of course Kara said yes! The night was topped off with a fireworks show. Kara thought the proposal could not have been more perfect! However, Nick was not done with the surprises. Nick and Kara had planned to go to a Chicago Cubs baseball game the following day. Little did Kara know, Nick had planned for her parents to be in attendance as well to celebrate the engagement. While Kara had her suspicions about the proposal, she could not have been more shocked to see her parents at the baseball game. It was the perfect cap on a magical weekend!”
Kara & Nick’s vision for their wedding day was a beautiful, memorable wedding that was fun for them and their guests. Their main wedding colors were navy blue and burgundy, with touches of gold as an accent. We incorporated their colors in the wedding party florals, with beautiful dahlias and roses, and touches of blue thistle for a pop of dusty blue to bring out the blue color. Ultimately, the weather made us change the ceremony location to indoors, however we utilized all of the same decor from the outdoors and used white draping to accent the beautiful floral garlands which also had beautiful burgundy flowers and lush greenery. Luckily after the ceremony, the skies cleared long enough for some beautiful photos with the fall foliage as a stunning backdrop. 🙂
