Spring is such a beautiful time of year in the south. Trees blooming, warmer weather, and the beginning of WEDDING SEASON! Our facility is mainly outdoors, so we love all the aspects of the spring and the beautiful colors it brings. In honor of our official wedding season beginning tomorrow, I wanted to share a bit of inspiration and highlight some trends for spring weddings!
The spring seasons usually bring to mind light, airy colors like pinks and yellows. However, greenery is making a HUGE appearance in 2017 wedding trends. You can avoid the “baby shower” feel of light blues and pinks by adding greenery like silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, dusty miller, or variegated pitt to your florals and decorations. I am in love with the use of the silver dollar eucalyptus in the last 2 photos below!
Something that I’ve noticed in the past few years and this year specifically, is that couples are tending to “tone down” their cakes. Instead of a 6 tiered cake with jewels and fondant and enough icing to give you an instant cavity, some are going for a more simplistic design with little to no icing (otherwise known as a “naked cake”, example below). Another approach that I love is a simple white wedding cake with minimal decorations, like some greenery, a few flowers, or a simple cake topper. Let’s be honest, people are going to ooh and ahh over that cake for approximately one minute, but ultimately they want to EAT IT! So my advice is to use your time, energy, and budget on designing other aspects of the event.
For outdoor weddings, it is becoming increasingly popular to encourage your guests to mix and mingle by having a few lawn games! Great for all ages, cornhole is always a popular choice. More recently we have seen giant versions of classic games like jenga and connect four make their way into the outdoor games category, and I think it’s genius! If you are planning on having children at your wedding – but don’t want to hire a dedicated sitter, offering games to keep kids occupied is a wise decision.

We are so excited for all the spring weddings this year, and can’t wait to see all the fun and personal touches our couples have designed for their weddings.
Happy Wedding Season!
